Form 1099-K

PayPal, as a payment settlement entity (PSE), is responsible for issuing Form 1099-K to users who meet certain thresholds in payment transactions.  stg-madebyteachersdev-staging.kinsta.cloud sends payouts and royalties to PayPal for processing.

  1. PayPal’s Responsibility: PayPal, as a PSE, issues Form 1099-K to users who receive payments for goods or services that exceed a specified threshold. As of the latest update in April 2023, this threshold was set at over $600 in a calendar year, regardless of the number of transactions.
  2. Our Responsibility: Because stg-madebyteachersdev-staging.kinsta.cloud is paying royalty payouts and is not processing the payments ourselves (since PayPal is doing it), we are typically not responsible for issuing the 1099-K.
  3. Changes and Updates: Tax regulations and thresholds can change, so it’s important to stay updated on IRS guidelines and any changes PayPal might make to its reporting policies.
  4. Consult a Tax Professional: Given the complexities of tax laws and the potential for changes, it is advisable to consult with a tax professional or accountant to ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  5. Download Form 1099-K from PayPal: Log in to your PayPal account.  Select the settings (the gear icon), and select Statements & Taxes.

Keep in mind that tax laws can vary and may be updated yearly. Always consult with a tax professional for the most current and personalized advice.
